Tenants who stay for long periods often have the unfortunate habit of treating the guest house as if it is their own, neglecting its upkeep to the point where greater damage to the property can occur. Short term tenants, on the other hand, tend to take more care of a property since they do not want to have to deal with any problems with the landlord when the time comes for them to leave.
